GhostFriend - a friendly front-end GUI for GhostScript
GhostScript converts PostScript and PDF to various other formats like JPEG, TIFF, PDF. Wolfgang Glunz' PStoEdit is an add-on to GhostScript that converts PostScript and PDF to vector formats like AutoCAD DXF and to WMF. Offering numerous options, these command line tools are very flexible, but not so easy to use. The popular GSView (or GhostView) GUI didn't offer what I needed: a simple tool to process a bunch of PDF or PostScript files.

So I created this GUI, named GhostFriend (formerly "GoBatchGS"). The most important output formats are implemented, as well as the most important options, like resolution, JPEG quality, dithering and even the option to merge PDF output. More info....

Softpedia provides a direct link to my ZIPped file. I do not appreciate this as I get the traffic but the downloaders may never see my site :-( Anyway, here is a comment on their site:

This is yet another tool that everyone can profit from.

This program will convert your PDF file into a more managable format (managable by you the reader's standards). PPT, JPEG, and with the help of PStoEdit (another freeware) you can convert to AutoCAD and Windows Metafile.

This is the program to do that one conversion you will most likely search google for and only find payware programs to do the job. Stop searching google and use this software. It is very easy to use.

First you need ghostscript. Go install it. Its free. Its a good program to have. Next, install this program to the BIN folder in the ghostscreen install directory. If you want that extra AutoCAD/WMF conversion, go install PStoEdit and copy 5 files to that same BIN folder, the PStoEdit exe file and the 4 DLL files which are in the main directory. Once you copy those over you can uninstall PStoEdit. All you needed were those 5 files. My guess is that GoBatchGS doesnt have the rights to include these in its install since PStoEdit is made by a different guy.

Then run GoBatchGS. It is a simply a frontend for Ghostscript which will run the commands necessary to convert a PS or PDF file into something else, like PPT or JPEG or whatever else the program supports (there is a whole menu full of conversion choices). Load up your PS or PDF file, choose the convert-to format and do the conversion. GoBatchGS will silently run the necessary command in Ghostscript and you will be left with the file you desire.

It works VERY fast, and I highly recommend it. It got my PDF->JPG conversion done just the way I wanted it.
